its my life...

there's so much i have to say yet so little time to type! Here goes!

Part 1 - Lizi's 6th Birthday, Saturday,Aug. 27,2005 at 4pm

Last Saturday was my niece's birthday so ever since i got pregnant i've been avoiding going to functions like that coz i juz couldn't stand being interrogated over and over again by filipino wives who juz find every single detail of my life very amusing. I can't keep avoiding these people forever so i braised myself. Just as how i imagined it would be, i got whispers, stares and questions. I was just wondering why they couldn't come up to me and ask me about my baby or my husband. It came to a point where a lady was asking the lady beside here how old i am, the thing bout it..i'm right in front of her. I looked at her and told her my age and walked off. My cousins have always protected me when it came to gossip bout me, they've try to hide the fact that people do talk about me behind my back..i know it,i just ignore it coz i know its not even close to the truth.

So,besides all that crap..my niece turned 6!!..man...i feel old. I still remember the first time she crawled, walk and say a word. I remembered that on her first birthday i had to carry her everywhere coz she didn't want me to leave. Now, she's arguing with me on which outfit looks cuter.

Part 2 - Andrew's 7 month check up, Monday,Aug.29, 2005 at 9:50am

Every 2 months Andrew goes to the doctor to get a physical and shots.This was actually pj's first time to come with me eversince we changed insurance. There's the usual, they check his height,weight,temperature and head circumference.Everythings good...head's a little big,he's pretty long for his age.Dr. Paul is Andrew's pediatrician..so the usual questions..pooping well? How many bottles does he drink?She heard bout the asthma..how am i keeping it under control? She started explaining to me that fall is coming and alot of kids who has asthma usually has an attack during that time because of the weather. Hopefully, it can be controlled by Albuterol if not then he will be under medication during the cold weather...*SIGH* His skin's looking better..i juz have to continue moisturising him. Then its the SHOTS!! At 1 month he had 1 then at 3 months he had 4,another 4 at 5 months..now he only got 2!!! Pj had to leave the room...he says he can't bare to see it.

This time he had the Hib shot and the Polio. Dr.Paul told me to give him tylenol or any pain reliever once we get home beacause the polio vaccine has an ingredient called tetanus that couls cause soreness. He was a pretty happy baby through out the day.

Part 3 - Today

Its been a pretty scary week for us.My dad can't see with his left eye.The doctors said that some of the nerves are torn and he also has cataract.It happens when you're diabetic.Doctors don't wanna do anything now they want his sugar level and everything else under control.Its difficult to see him so helpless..I have to be strong for them especially for my mom and dad. They've been depending on me alot more now.I just do what i have to do...it may be difficult at times but i've got prayers and a wonderful husband and his family.Its been pretty hectic..my laundry needs to be done but since i'm helping out at the store,i don't have the time to do it.The only thing thats cheering my dad up is andrew.....hmmmm

The evil cough is gone!!YAHOO!..He's doing much better now and instead of his usual full dose of Albuterol for the nebulizer he gets half!!...that will definately make him a more happy baby.

I know i've said it so many times but its really amazing how fast he grows. He's already saying his favourite word..and it seems to come out of him everytime he starts crying..and that is MAMA!

He likes watching that big purple dinosaur..and i actually have a barney doll that sings i love you! It was a gift from someone on my 18th birthday, i can't really remember who gave it to me..but so far he loves it.So now, i can put on a Barney tape while he sits on his favourite chair and i can do sum light house chores...His all time favourite toy right now is our tv remote control.He's amazed by the lights and buttons on it..he is now a fast crawler..I can't juz leave him on the floor now. He has to be watched at all times ...its amazing what he tries to get and grab...

His uncle Dan bought him this booster seat...i was thinking bout getting him a high-chair but he already has enough stuff thats lying around the house that i wanted something long lasting yet convenient.I am very happy with the booster seat, i can put it on our chair or on the floor and he likes seating on it...

another day at the doctors...

Ever since Andrew's been in the ER, the nurses have been calling me everyday to check on his condition and how many times a day have he been on the nebulizer.They say they worry alot when it comes to babies because they can't tell you how they're feeling.They even ask me to hold up the phone to andrew so they can hear his breathing.Yesterday morning, they called up and wanted to see him.

His doctor was on vacation so another doctor came to see him, he wasn't too happy bout his condition as the doctor put it..andrew still sounds junky. The thing is i can't really do anything except making sure he gets the nebulizer every 4 hours. He's off the medicine they gave him which was so difficult to give him coz the taste was just horrible. I tried it mysel, it leaves this horrible after taste and i'm suppose to give him a teaspoon of it. 1 teaspoon is alot for a 6 month old. I hate to see him scream and wiggle his way out of my lap.

He's been sleeping with me and pj lately so i know he's doing ok and breathing well. Its tough, i haven't had a good sleep yet but the again eversince i was into my 6 month of pregnancy i haven't exactly slept well. I love my boy so it doesn't really matter if i sleep at all if he needs me.

I hope my little boy gets well soon...

Andrew's first trip to the ER hopefully his last

This weekend was a nightmare.Once again, Andrew's cough and cold came back in full swing which kept us awake for 2 nights. I literally was in the verge of tears because i was extremely exhausted and he just wanted to be held, i tried to let pj take over but Andrew's cries just got louder. He finally went to sleep around 6:30am Sunday morning but ofcourse woke up 2 hours later, coughing. My mom in law tried to console him but that didn't work either. I feel so bad for the in-laws because we usually sleep over there on the weekends and it seems that he get sicks most of the time in the weekends..

Sunday came, Pj's nephew and bro woke up that made andrew happy! FINALLY. He likes little kids..he started laughing and coughing at the same time. I took a quick nap and was woken up by his screams, he was screaming because everyone was eating and they weren't giving him.

Around noon his cough got worse and he started breathing rapidly...then he started weezing. I couldn't believe it, my baby boy got asthma. I woke Pj up to call the doctor, he ofcourse started to panic. His doctor wasn't on call so we spoke to the nurse and she made my husband panic even more, she told him to call 911. While all this is happening my son is laughing away at the phone.

I told pj 911 could take longer so we drove over. I've never been to this hospital, but i'm pretty impressed. Since we changed insurance, our new insurance has its own hospital and medical centers. They've got 2 ERs one for just children's i guess that is why the service is pretty fast. The doctor came, diagnosed him as having an asthma attack due to his cough, the nurses were trying to get his blood pressure and temperature and he was juz smiling happily at them as if nothing is wrong with him.My little charmer.

Doctor started asking question like who smokes,who's got asthma and my hubby replied all of the above as if he's proud of it..which i promptly frowned at him and he swore he'll quit smoking as of now.The nurse gave him oral medicine which he spat out the nurse's face. I wanted to laugh so badly. The nurse made me give him the medicine the 2nd time.She's smart! The nurse held him down while i try to make him swallow it,right after he swallowed i gave him a bottle..hey i'm smart too.They thought me how to use a nebulizer but i already knew that since i used to babysit a baby who had asthma. The problem bout it, was just keeping him steady through out the whole 15 minutes.

He still was breathing a little heavy after the first dose so we had to do it again.After that he felt much better..he was even happier now.Doctor made us buy our own nebulizer which i ofcourse thought with the medicine would cost us a pretty large sum but surprisingly enough everything was below 50 bucks.

What a weekend..i finally got some sleep so did my baby boy.

weekend wonders

We had a good weekend,we drove to baltimore to eat some seafood.Basically we drove more then an hour just to eat seafood! HEHE..i thought that was hilarious, i would have complained if the food wasn't good. We ate at Bo Brooks , I loved the Cream of Crabs! It was soooooooo creamy and yummy, and those chunky crabmeats! Absolutely Delightful!..The crabs were huge too...i wanna go back there!..:( After having such a good meal, we went to the harbour and walked around, then decided to have desert..i had strawberry cream smoothie..Pj had this chocolate pyranid which was heavenly...yum...I'm making myself hungry. Ok...Andrew was unbelivable good through out the trip.He was just so happy to have people carry him all the time!

Monday was nieces birthday! She's 7...time really flies. I remember taking care of her when she was just andrew's age...and her fasination of Barney.She gave her favourite barney stuff toy to andrew which was soo touching to me! She couldn't sleep without that doll, now u realise she's not that little baby anymore.

6 months 1 week and 2 days old.

Our agenda for this week is to baby proof the apartment because my little angel has started crawling...well its more like pushing his way through everything but nevertheless he is good and fast at it!!

He thinks all wires especially plugs are toys! Even the center table now has been a problem, he wants to grab the cover and its a little scary that all the things on the table will fall on him.Andrew's starting to have his own personality.Things that i have been noticing lately:

• He is getting too big for his bath tub and the sink
• He loves taking a bath.
• He hates eating peaches
• He enjoys barney and talks back to the TV.
• When holding his hand and asking him to open and close it..he does it!! hehehe
• His stranger anxiety is getting worse.
• His sleep patterns are still unpredictable.
• He stares at you when you're eating then he'll try to grab it.
• He gets excited when dad's home!
• His starting to have tantrums.
• Changing his diapers have such a obstacle since he loves turning over.
• He loves attention especially from his grandpa.

I'm sure there's alot more interesting things he's going to do...i love my little boy..he's amazingly cute and i love it when i carry him and he puts his arms around my neck..just like he's hugging me.

anniversary weekend

Pj and i celebrated our wedding anniversary over the weekend. It was a nice family affair, i'm actually glad my mom came along. She was such an incredible help.Pj was saying the Andrew has more stuff then both of us combine.Well, when travelling with a baby..u always have to be ready! Especially now that he's eating, there's his food you have to think about..bibs...spoons..sippy cups.Ofcourse, the diapers..u never know how much he needs.There's his bottle sterilizer..

We left Saturday morning, and was suppose to be about 3 and a half hour drive but since we left around 10am we got caught up by traffic, the drive became a 5 hour drive. Pj's cousin was complaining bout that, he wanted to leave really early but ofcourse...we have to follow what the elders say..hehehe. We took 2 vans there....the drive was ok.Andrew didn't cry that much, only when he pooped and when he was hungry.

We reaced the Tropicana at 3pm and only one of our rooms were ready, when we got to the room...it smelled like someone was smoking..much to my horror it was a smoking room!!OH NO!!...Andrew's skin is really sensitive...and ofcourse the doctors keep telling us these horror stories on second hand smoking.They say it causes SIDS(sudden infant death symdrome)..I HAD TO BEG FOR THEM TO CHANGE OUR ROOM.After all that commotion was over..We all split up.PJ,me,andrew and his cousin went for a walk by the boardwalk but we ended up at the shopping outlets.Pj's mom,sis,bro in law n the kids went to the beach.My mom n his aunt..started gambling..haha.

after walking, went back to the hotel to meet up with the family. We walked some more to get some homemade ice-cream....it was yummy!! We then had dinner at PF Chang's. The plan was we were gonna leave andrew with my mom-in-law while we have some alone time. Well, that didn't work out coz andrew started crying, my mom in law whom i ofcourse love dearly gets nervous when he starts crying and kicking. I decided to skip our alone time and put andrew to bed...luckily my mom came back and said she's had enough of the slot machines and she stayed with Andrew.

Guess who were performing there?? heheh the BACKSTREET BOYS!! hehehe too bad tickets were sold out. We went back to the boardwalk and tried some of their corn dogs. I ate some oysters....Pj's allergic but he still wanted to try some...i yanked it out of his hands..hehe I don't wanna take the risk. We went to the casino and decided to play with the slots..i'm a very bad gambler. I put in 20 bucks in and i won 30 bucks..and decided to stop. hehehe..Pj wanted me to play some more..but i said 50 bucks is enough i don't wanna risk it!! We got back to the room at around 3am...Pj continued playing...he was gonna loose his 20 bucks but got it back with his very last 25 cents..lucky him!

The next day, we had lunch at the seaside cafe...which was HORRIBLE!!...My tummy started to ache after that.We then waited for Pj's aunt to stop gambling..hehehe she lost $1300...very bad. Pj's uncle on the other hand..hmmm well he won $1000 at the black jack table, then this guy came up to him asking him for 700 bucks..he kept insisting that he really needs the money and the guy was giving him his 900 bucks rolex watch...Pj's uncle gave in...tsk tsk tsk...i saw the watch..i honestly think its fake.

We left atlantic at around 5:30pm. The drive back home was horrible, Andrew was just grumpy..i didn't know why..i decided to pick him up eventhough i'm not suppose it..When i picked him up...i realised he was wet all over..poor baby. That didn't change anything though..he was still grumpy. Pj and i were thinking maybe he's getting uncomfortable in his carseat..so we're gonna go shopping for a new convertable carseat this weekend.
